Time. What Are You Doing With Yours?

Not just time but circumstances also have a way of cutting through the bull and showing you what matters. The word of the day is Time. We say we never have enough time, time is running out, the time is now and yada, yada, yada. Here’s the thing...we all have exactly the same amount of time every day. Time is a precious commodity. Our time is valuable.

It’s how we use that time that sets us apart from one another. It’s how we prioritize our time that shows the world what is important to us and what is not.I am not a patient person. (I see you laughing Momma!) and I always have about 4 or 5 things going at one time. Then one day the universe says, ‘We think you need to learn some patience and we’re going to force you to do nothing for months on end!’  So Time was suddenly something I had a lot of. And I used that time to simplify my life.

What do you prioritize with your time? Family, Work, Hobbies? Or do you let others take your time? Time you can’t get back. I know if I were to kick the bucket at least 3 or 4 people would be upset. But since I’m the one who will be in the coffin and I seriously doubt anyone is jumping in there with me, then I am the one who will choose how I use my time.

This week I hope you will be aware of your time and how you choose to use it. Will you have lived a full life on your own terms? Because that is exactly what I plan on doing!

The Sprinkles Baking Book By Candace Nelson ( Yes,There will be Cupcakes!)

The instant New York Times bestseller!
Cupcake favorites and dessert classics from the pastry chef and creator of Sprinkles Cupcakes and judge on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars.
When Candace Nelson started Sprinkles, America’s first cupcakes-only bakery, in 2005, people thought she was crazy. “What else do you sell?” they’d ask. But Sprinkles sold out on opening day . . . and hasn’t slowed down since!
Now, in her first cookbook, Candace opens up her recipe vault to bring you 100 irresistible desserts she can’t live without. You’ll learn all the secrets for making 50 beloved Sprinkles Cupcakes, from iconic red velvet to new flavors created exclusively for the book, like crème brûlée.
But Candace doesn’t stop there. She shares the recipes for her all-time favorite cakes, pies, quick breads, cookies, bars, and other treats, plus delicious guest recipes from Sprinkles friends like Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, and Michael Strahan. THE SPRINKLES BAKING BOOK is filled with all-American classics that will appeal to everyone in your family and on your dinner party guest list. So, don’t hold back. Treat yourself to this sweet cookbook and share in the fun!
Sprinkles is one of my all time favorite cupcake bakeries! And Candace Nelson is perfect. Really she is a cupcake genius!  If the only thing in this entire book, which has like 100 of her secret recipes, was the Red Velvet Cupcakes, I would still want this book. So grab your Earl Grey and have some virtual yumminess!

I love Sprinkles cupcakes more than any other. And the fact that Candace brought us the ATM version of cupcakes is nothing short of brilliant! I know at least one of our fellow bloggers caught the Sprinkles fever when visiting from across the pond!

Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!  Red Velvet is my favorite, but don’t tell the others….you know how they can be…

I Spy With My Own Little Eye….You!

It is so good to see you! After 9 months of no vision in that left eye, I finally got to see my eye and see through it! I thank you all for your well wishes. They made all the difference. Of this I am sure. So grab your cup of tea and I shall tell you a tale!

Every one knows that I have been seriously anxious about this Corneal Transplant. I don’t think I ate for the 3 days before. I almost fell flat on my face in the parking lot of the hospital! I don’t even know people who are up and dressed at 5 a.m.!  It is not my time of day.

Luckily I was scheduled first for surgery Thursday. This would be a first for OU Boy. Waiting for someone to come out of surgery. I’ve waited on him more times than I can count with his heart, but he’s never had to be on that end. He didn’t do well. especially when everyone who went in to surgery after me came out a long time before me.

He tried to take pictures, most of which I shut down quickly. A drugged up Pirate is not something anyone should see or hear. This picture was in pre-op. The poor nurse dug around in my veins trying to find one that she could use. She did apologize and tell me I would have a nasty bruise there. First oddity: I did not have a single bruise there or on the arm she eventually stuck. Nope not one bruise or pin prick. ( This is important).

She was the only female I saw there. When I went back to the O.R. they had some nice jazz on and it was quiet until my anesthesiologist came in and said in a creepy voice ‘Welcome to Dr. Davis’s Lair’. Okay. ‘Now, just lay down and make sure your head is inside the form. and I’m going to be right here and you’ll be asleep before your head hits the pillow’. The last thing I remember  hearing was ‘ We’re going to have to restrain your hands’. Say Whaaat? I mean there were 4 men in there and I don’t know them like that.

But apparantly I got extremely fidgety during the surgery and they had to give me more sleep stuff. Which I would buy like Michael Jackson if I could! That is some great stuff and you don’t remember a thing.

24 hours after surgery my stitches had already started healing, which they could not believe.  For the first time in all these months, I got to see my eye. Now, we all know that the cornea is clear. And they have no explaination why my left eye is now a really dark blue. I also passed the vision test! My doctors are very happy. I thanked them profusely for sticking a needle into my eye. Answer?  ‘That’s the least thing we did to that eye!’

I don’t need to know any more thank you. So here we are home and safe with what looks like a sports cup for a newborn over my left eye. It stays. According to my doctor, those sutures are the only thing keeping your eye together right now.  No sneezing, crying, coughing, bending over, lifting over 8 pounds, touching, rubbing, wetting or lying on my left side. I am back on the steroid and antibiotic drops for a few months. I’m tired, sore, and more blessed than I have a right to be. Why? I like to say healing is my superpower, but I am aware that all of your prayers, positive thoughts and wishes and love brought me through this and I am grateful.

As for the Anxiety Troll….right before surgery my blood pressure was 110 over 56. So take that anxiety. I won!

Seriously, What’s the Worst That Could Happen?

This is what I spent last night thinking about. The What If? game. What if I don’t wake up? What if my cornea comes from a serial killer? Or someone with awful taste?

I have post it notes everywhere to remind me what I need to get done before tonight. These are the ones you can see, but the others say Do Not Rub Your Eye!!!  And the one that said Delete your browser history just in case! I just noticed that one on the bottom that is next to the Bible. Oh well….like there isn’t sex in there!

So you all behave yourself while I’m away and know that you all bring me so much joy everyday!

Yes, I’m Positive!

Positivity!  The word of the week over here. Surgery is Thursday, today is OU Boy’s Birthday, and his Uncle Richard is having major surgery today, which we were told not to expect too much from. After having every nurse possible call me over the past few days to make sure I had picked up the meds they called in for post-op and also to make sure that someone will be there the entire time. They can’t leave at all I was told. Yeah, I don’t think he is going anywhere.  Once again we got to the point in the conversation this morning where the nurse asked if I had any questions. For the first time, I did!  ‘Is this going to hurt?’  ‘Do you mean during the surgery or after?’ ‘Well, I’m hoping not during….right? I mean I’ll be out…right?’ ‘Oh yes, she says, and after there may be discomfort but no one has ever said they were in pain.’

So I guess I shall make a cake today. Yes, I will positively  make a cake today! And I am positive it will be delicious.  I’m positive we will have a good outcome for Uncle Richard.

And I am positive it will all work out for the best. Now I have to go send Kelley over at kelleysdiy  a picture so she can “help” me re-do some old tables! When I can see again!

Rainy Days and Sundays Always Make Me Happy!

Yep I know that’s not how the song goes but this is my truth so I’m going with it. This allergy/bug thing has outlasted it’s welcome, which for inquiring minds was 24 hours.

Apparantly I am becoming cranky. OU Boy just called and I told him thank you for turning off my ceiling fan this morning. I love it at night but not in the morning. I told him I used my nice morning voice but because I feel so bad, inside my head I was saying Turn off the fucking fan! Yeah, he says, that wasn’t in your head. That came out of your mouth.

I have every medication I can think of. Some I don’t want ( cough drops ) and some I will swig like the sailor I am (Nyquil). I think I threatened someone for offering to bring more stuff over. If Nyquil can’t fix it, I don’t think Sudafed is going to and I also don’t want to have to show ID to buy meds. I did ask OU Boy about street drugs. Only because when I went to the surgeon’s office they asked if I did street drugs. Is that like antibiotics? No it is not.

Today I am going to be super kind to myself! Yep, we are going to make a big cup of Chai Tea and the bottle of Nyquil Severe ( yes that is a thing) and we are going back to bed. And by we I mean me. My friends know better than stick so much as a pinky toe in here right now. Unless they are bringing Tomato Basil Soup from Basil’s Cafe. ( That is a hint….)

xxP   Love yourself today and have some fun! And thanks for letting me whine.

It Always Seems Impossible Until It’s Done..Nelson Mandela

Nothing is Impossible. The very word says I’m Possible.  That beautiful sea glass was once probably just an old piece of broken glass when  the winds, sand and water pushed it over and over until it was a shiny and beautiful piece of art. See what I’m getting at here?

Those gorgeous eggs are full of possiblility. New life, the cycle of life starting again as it does every year. Nothing calms my soul like the sea. As the four year old says, ‘We’re sea people’. I don’t know where he got that but it’s true. Everything about the sea calls to me at this time of year. What’s calling your name today? Work? Love? Children? A nice coconut macaroon maybe….

Have a beautiful Saturday. And surround your self with the things that call to your soul. The things that are just waiting for you.

Cupcake Cakes: Delicious, Delightful, & Spectacular! by Danielle Levy

There is definitely something we all love about cupcakes. In this book, Danielle introduces us to the Cupcake Cake! Seriously! For those times when you must share.

There are quite a few cupcake styles and sizes  for every holiday and season. This is the book I got the idea to make a pumpkin out of a giant cupcake. It was awesome!

Kindness Update:

Samantha Jane: I will be glad when this is over. I am glad February is the shortest month.

Pryssa: I’m finding myself not even thinking about it much. It’s just who I am now.

Laurell: When this month is up I will be kind to all the other drunk girls in the bathroom at the club. Most everyone else probably not.

Patricia:  I have bit my tongue so much now there is a red mark there. But  I am determined to continue being kind. I think those people who are the hardest to be kind to are the ones that probably need it the most.

So the Pirate Nation is moving forward with the Kindess Project. Although some of us have only done it when they had booze. JS.

xx Patricia   Have yourself a lovely day and a cup of tea and cake!

Let’s Do That!❤☕

Tea. My favorite thing. It’s the thing that forces me to slow down and focus. To breathe and be calm.

Sharing tea is a wonderful thing. It’s nice. It’s kind. It brings you closer. Oh the things I’ve heard around the teapot.

Invite someone to share tea with you today. Let’s be nice. Let’s be kind. Yeah, let’s do that!!!❤
