Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see..Mark Twain

Good Morning Beautiful People of The Page! I have my tea and a good book to finish today and I have had my bowl of pumpkin porridge. I love porridge. It’s a warm hug in a bowl!

Speaking of things I like, the other day I asked my FB people if I’m the only person in the world who eats Sardines in Mustard with crackers. One person said Hell Yeah! The rest were grossed out. These are the same sisters that eat chicken livers and gizzards. My mother commented You are truly your daddy’s daughter! Well, yes, that is how I found out about those delicious little fish bodies ( or bait as Tommy calls them). When Daddy would go to the deer camp all of Momma’s rules went out the window and we ate all kinds of things we weren’t allowed to have at home.

At the deer camp is also where I learned not to spray things you find in the glove box. You should know that no man carries around air freshener. But they do carry Doe Urine. And it’s gross. But back to the sardines…ladies if you are not in the mood for love, eat a few of these little suckers. I promise you your man will not come anywhere near your mouth!

I hope everyone did something kind yesterday! It is a really hard time all over the world to stay positive. People are hurting and dying and we all feel pretty helpless to do anything about it. All I know to do is just be kind. Especially if you have anxiety issues already. Yesterday I was kind to my husband. I cut my hair so he would stop complaining about all the hair all over the bathroom. I thought about cooking something but after a bit that feeling passed.

Today I have to finish a book. Because tomorrow I’m having guests. My favorite people in the world, so I want to be able to give them my undivided attention.

I’m sending virtual hugs to all of you and a hand to hold if you need it! Of course, if you have food, you can come get a real hug!

Much love   Patricia

Tangled up in Brew: A Brewing Trouble Mystery by Joyce Tremel

Tangled Up in Brew (A Brewing Trouble Mystery) by [Tremel, Joyce]

Brew pub owner Maxine “Max” O’Hara and her chef/boyfriend Jake Lambert are excited to be participating in the Three Rivers Brews and Burgers Festival. Max hopes to win the coveted Golden Stein for best craft beer—but even if she doesn’t, the festival will be great publicity for her Allegheny Brew House.

Or will it? When notoriously nasty food and beverage critic Reginald Mobley is drafted as a last-minute replacement judge, Max dreads a punishing review. Her fears are confirmed when Mobley literally spits out her beer, but things get even worse when the cranky critic drops dead right after trying one of Jake’s burgers. Now an ambitious new police detective is determined to pin Mobley’s murder on Max and Jake, who must pore over the clues to protect their freedom and reputations—and to find the self-appointed judge, jury, and executioner.

This is the second in the Brewing Trouble series and it is every bit as fun as the first one!

The characters are smart, funny and very family oriented. The descriptions of Pittsburgh and the brewing process are very entertaining, as is Max’s family! I have learned more about brewing beer than I ever imagined and have a deep respect for those who do this complicated and delicious liquid!

Max and Jake make a good team and the action is well paced and the subject matter is spot on. These are people you probably know. Intelligent, fun-loving and very well thought out. Between good beer, tasty food and a mystery to solve, what’s not to love?

The best part is they share their recipes with you! So you can make a killer burger as well!

The third book in the series should be out in October!  Books,BooksandMoreBooks  Reviews.

I Will Always Stand Up For What Is Right, NO Matter The Cost

Pink Tea Latte’s with Rose Hips and Some with Pistachios along with Lavender Tarts make for a really pretty Tea Party! You can really use Tea a lot of different ways.

Yesterday was so insane that I had to think up something that would put me in a better frame of mind. Since I am a visual person, this was what I made.

I also took a trip to my Therapist…the all knowing wise man that he is. It’s been raining for days and I’m tired of chasing down the lawn furniture after the wind carries it to the neighbors. The mold is up so allergies are going nuts making my eye pressure go up and that is causing the transplant eye to ache.

I have been more than a little bit stressed and needed to vent to someone so the poor therapist got dumped on. I could write a book on politics right now but I won’t. I’m just very disappointed in people right now. And I should know better. I was raised in the deep south of Georgia and then lived in the deepest south of Mississippi. I have seen and heard some really horrible things happen to really good people.

Today I am going to try to keep my mouth shut about it but I will probably fail at that. I didn’t have to read about racism. I was there the day the bus pulled up in front of my school on the first day of desegregation. When just dating someone not from your race could get you expelled from school. When my own mother told me to tell that black boy to never call our house. Which  if you know me only made me jump feet first into the fray. All you young white boys with your tiki torches, you make me sick. And I will always, always speak up for justice and the rights of every human being on this planet to be treated equally.

I am proud my children don’t give a rat’s ass about your color or culture or  beliefs. Unless you are a meat eater. They may judge you on that. But not a lot. I know from time to time my boys sneak off to Burger King.

Today I just want to say to everyone feeling afraid, I will stand with you all the way. Things can never go back to the way they used to be. And in some parts of Mississippi still are! If you need me, I will be there.

Thanks for listening. Tune in tomorrow when I’ll say other stuff my momma won’t like.

Deliciously ELLA Every Day by Ella Woodward

Ella is one of my favorite cookbook authors in the plant-based eating world. I wanted to put this book out there before her next gem comes out this year.

I love that this isn’t a Diet book. It’s about enjoying delicious, natural food to help your body feel its best.

In this one there are over 100 simple and delicious plant-based, dairy-free, gluten-free recipes.  Nourishing foods, and drinks. Everything is easy to make with ingredients that are easy to find.

I have to be nice to my tummy at all times or it behaves like a 2-year-old who just had their cookie snatched away! And while my mouth and nose love to see lovely pictures of food and sweets, I actually do not eat sugar. Or dairy or meat or bread. Even potatoes are a limited thing in my diet. As nightshade plants they along with tomatoes can cause me great pain. So I stick to what I know I can eat. I look at food and say What nutrients is this giving my body? And while I will occasionally have to tweak a recipe from Ella, most of the time I am safe with her.

Her next book is bigger and has more wonderfully nutritious recipes so look for it coming soon!

Happy Birthday Queen Victoria!

Yes, I am aware that England’s Queen Victoria is long gone. But my beautiful sister Queen Victoria Beth has a birthday today! So we are celebrating her!

We are only a year apart and shared a bedroom growing up. Which automatically meant we hated each other. Her side of the room was neat and tidy and mine at one time had a spider living in a web in the corner which I wasn’t going to clean so I just called it a pet.

Since I am 5’11” and she is about 5’6″, the only clothes stealing going on was tops. Her most irritating habit at the time was that she got up hours before school to do her makeup and hair. I am pretty sure her husband has never seen her without her face completely done.  I think she even had her hair, makeup and nails done when she gave birth! The lights on that damn makeup mirror drove me nuts! And once I came home to find she had put tape down the middle of the room because she thought I wanted her boyfriend. I did not and turns out neither did she!

She was also a tattle tail. If she got in trouble for something she had no problem throwing me under the bus too. She had a bit of a wild side to her in high school but then met the love of her life and settled down and had two adorable children and is still married to said man! Obviously I can not relate.

She is hilariously funny! And is always put together perfectly. She has made me cry but made me laugh a lot more.

So to the Queen today I say Happy Birthday Girl! Hop in that VW Bug and go celebrate!

Love you to the moon and back!

The Color Of Love. And A Tale!

Let’s try this again! Happy Anniversary Love! Today is the actual date. And I’m probably not going to live down the fact that I forgot.

Backing up to last night…I didn’t feel like eating dinner so for the first time I tried those ramen noodle things in a cup with the seasoning packet. After about an hour I felt like I was in heavy labor with some type of clawed demon in my stomach fighting its way out. And I wasn’t sure which end it was going to decide to go.

As I cried and screamed like Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby for someone to get this thing out of me, I also discovered I was out of peppermint tea! Oh dear Lord it was an awful night. Around midnight it began to storm. Really storm and the power went out. I woke up with said demon spawn determined to use every orifice to leave my body. And as I am hunched over the toilet my phone rings. A transformer at the Club had blown and when OU Boy went to check the pool chlorination pump, it came back on filling the room with Chlorine gas so they were in ambulances on the way to the hospital.

Don’t worry everyone there was fine, just needed to get some oxygen. I on the other hand was still in a committed relationship with the bathroom. So already it has been an educational day. Always wear a gas mask in the pool basement and never eat anything that is written in a language you don’t understand.

I’ve fixed a pot of tea and will be soaking in a tub followed by a trip to church to get some Holy Water just in case! So Happy Anniversary baby, life is never boring with you around and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

xx Patricia

Some You and Me and Tea Time

Good Morning! I hope everyone is well and not stressing over the latest round of insanity going on in the world of politics.

If you are already dealing with anxiety, this week has been difficult. I know it has for me and I’ve been not on here the past couple of days because someone in my inner circle lost their damn mind and decided they wanted to die. Turns out they didn’t actually want to but the new medication they were on can have that side effect.

And for some reason I thought today was my anniversary and it’s not. I even made a cake. Surely I’m not the only woman who can’t ever remember the exact date of their wedding! And since I got married on that date then got divorced and married again just recently to the same person who I never stopped living with, we are sticking with the original date. Which is tomorrow I learned when I sent my husband a text telling him Happy Anniversary. And he wrote back Happy Day Before Anniversary. I have never once gotten  it right. I don’t know what that means, but oh well the cake is made.

I also can not be the only person who makes a pot of tea and then gets caught up in a book and the tea goes cold. So I had to make another pot of tea. I’m seriously thinking I should go back to bed and hit Refresh!

While the past two days have been uber stressful, I didn’t have to take my anxiety meds. I just kept reminding myself of all the things I am grateful for in my life. I think a lot of people forget to do that. In a culture where everyone wants more I have to keep reminding myself that more does not mean better. It’s just more to take care of, more to worry about.

I hope you all have a peaceful day and take that time out for tea. It really does put us in a mindful place. As long as you don’t pick up a book while it steeps! I’m sipping on some really nice Oolong this morning and I guess I’ll have some cake!

xx Patricia
