Oh my what a gloomy Monday it is here. It rained overnight and the clouds are still hanging gray overhead.

We had to be at the OU Medical early this morning for OU Boy’s stress test. He couldn’t have his beloved sweet tea for 24 hours before. So I got him some Adult coloring books and markers and stuff to take his mind off of that. For a guy who goes through over a gallon a day it was tough!

I’ve been on the hunt for new teas for a few days now. This was a surprise and a very nice one at that.Β  Tazo Apricot Vanilla Creme. This would be a lovely tea to have with toast and apricot jam, or an apricot tart. It smells so nice. The apricot hits you in the nose right away and the vanilla is a smooth ribbon running throughout and it all comes together with the white tea beautifully. Perfect for Spring and Summer, I can see using this iced as well. Or you could make this lovely Vanilla infused naked cake….no words…

vanilla naked layer cake... so pretty! x

Lately I’ve been feeling the need to shake things up a bit. I went on an adventure Saturday to the country, poking around for unique locations. Stepping out of my comfort zone. Then on a whim I decided I wanted to be a brunette, so yeah, that happened and the stylist cut a bunch of layers into it so now I’ve got curls all over my face, but we’ll see how I like it. I love playing with hair color. Unfortunately for some reason mine never takes. In a few weeks it will just wash down the drain and we’ll be back to blonde.

I hope everyone had a restful weekend and maybe some of you are off today, so have a good one!

xx Patricia

Ok, I think I mentioned this before but at least you have the card for another cardiologist; my first husband finally went to a doctor once. He was told he was in pretty good shape and I almost lost it. Four years later and no more doctors visits, he dropped dead at 42 of a heart attack. No warning, just dead. My son tried to save him and it haunts him. You just keep pushing. I can’t tell you how many men that age I knew that dropped dead. One was doing cross country biking and didn’t feel very well. Stopped at an ATM to get cash to take a train home with his bicycle and dropped dead at the ATM. In his mid 50’s. My brothers friend did the same thing at 43 and he was a runner and fit. Looks are deceiving. I’m glad you are pushing him a bit. I tried but it didn’t work. Hard headed men.

Good for you to have a little fun! A gallon of sweet tea a day sounds hard on the body–recent diagnosis of diabetes in our household made us switch to tea that has sweet taste like licorice or stevia, but no sugar or fake sugar (like that splenda which has been proven to cause depression etc.) is allowed in our house now.

It’s overcast here too, at 1:30 pm, and it feels and looks like late in the day. Oh well. There’s always tea!

Get another doctor, is the obvious answer. Does the doctor look like someone with a sugar or weight problem? That can be part of the answer sometimes. Sometimes it can just be the culture: everyone in that area eats a certain way, smokes or whatever, so there can be the belief even with the doctors that it’s all just ‘normal’ and expected. Good luck maybe seeing if you can help reduce the sugar while not losing taste, if you so choose…!
