Bringing Back The Summer Teas

Friday and the sun is out and it isn’t supposed to rain! Hallelujah! After finishing up painting the tea cupboard and table and chairs, it was time to organize the teas. Fall and Winter went to the back and I found 3 boxes of this Lemon Lavender Lane, which I love, and Lavender and Honey Spoons.  Along with my 2 little teapot salt and pepper shakers.

That entire cabinet is full of tea and teaware. And I’m waiting on a shipment now.  I have spent the last few days occupying a lounge chair at the pool. Today I need to stay inside. My bum is burnt.

I love the Lemon Lavender Lane Tea by Celestial Seasoning. It’s so calming as a warm nighttime drink and delicious as an iced drink! Plunk in some lemon slices and Voila’!

I am feeling especially smug today. I’ve already mailed my June birthday cards and I’ve wrapped Father’s Day gifts!

It has been so wet here that we had to re-pot several plants and move the hostas. Yesterday I went to blow my pool float up with the thing I call the blower upper. You plug it in the outlet and air goes into your float. Only you know how you really have to cap that float off quick or the air comes right back out? I didn’t want that to happen so I tossed the blower upper into a chair, still blowing and capped off my float. I go to pick up the blower upper and apparently I had tossed it too hard and the back fell off. I didn’t know that until I picked it up and left part of my pointer finger skin on the coils. Shocked the shit out of me and burnt my finger horribly. It was numb but my entire hand hurt! I called Tommy who quickly offered to come and make sure I wasn’t dying or having any erratic heartbeats. But no, I told him I could wait. He made me check my heartbeat though which is hard to do since I have a very low resting heart rate.

Around 3 I couldn’t take the pain anymore and this thing was filling up with fluid so I found my guys that I have dubbed the bandanna gang and one whipped out a knife and cut that thing open and bodily fluids came out and the pain went away. They told me to put mustard on it to draw the heat. I did. But it smelled good so I licked it.

That is our week in a weird nutshell! I hope you had an entertaining week as well!

Is The Ark Coming? Will There Be Tea?

Saturday and blue skies all around. Already over 80 and very muggy. Which doesn’t bode well for the weather later today. Feeling much better today, but I’m not pushing it.

Last night since we were draped over the sofa whining, we didn’t get to do any storm spotting. Remember our spot? Well, this happened over there. Along with a couple of church roofs peeling back. So I guess we were fortunate to have not been there.

Since I was up early this morning, I made Cherry Chocolate Chip Scones and had some Harney & Sons Chocolate Tea. I also filled the cookie jar up and now I’m done. The pool and this story are calling my name!

Enjoy your weekend and stay safe!

How Can I Feel So Bad and Yet Look So Good?!

Yep, the plague has arrived! On a Friday!  The sun is shining and there is a group of kids playing at the park across the street as it is their last day of school and I just want them gone. That’s the kind of sick we are.

Tommy was really getting sick at dinner Wednesday night and yesterday he was in full-blown stomach flu mode. I have to admit I may not have been as sympathetic as I could have been. See Below.

sickballs

I knew I should have never let that man sleep with me! Around 3 in the morning I was headed to the kitchen for water! Wrong move. I’m just moving into the bathroom now. The man left me here alone crying in the bathroom. I swear he left early and snuck out just so he didn’t have to hear me whine. But he did make coffee. And I did return it to the toilet.

And just to make sure he knew how valuable I am I sent him this from Twitter DM’s.

Tommy wrote back, ” He called you simple and made it sound sexy”. Someone needs to recognize my virtue and Queenliness. I have no idea who this man is but he is a sweet talker! LOL

Y’all be good, I’m going to take some meds and sleep!

TEA MAIL AND AWARDS!

teadeliveryharney

It’s difficult to be flippant today. We had an entire town disappear! And Missouri, we are with you in spirit. We are in for more tonight. Things have already been re-scheduled for earlier in the day. I’m over this now.

Yesterday the postman brought me these lovely teas from Harney & Sons Teas. I needed those iced ones! And the Ginger Peach is new to me. I don’t usually like anything peach flavored. I’m from Georgia, I know what a peach should taste like.

peachgingertea

This one had such a smooth, almost creamy taste and the peach was not flavoring. Just smelling it took me back to home and blanching millions of peaches (peaches for free), for Gracie to bake into pies and cobblers. It’s a keeper!

Last night we went to La Baguette for dinner and I discovered this!

Basilgimlet

A Basil Gin Gimlet. Dear Lord was it good. It’s the only picture I took because this isn’t Burger King. Tommy embarrassed me by ordering Dr. Pepper and then getting sick in the bathroom. Poor thing is still sick. I had the blackened snapper with Jasmine Rice and asparagus. For dessert, Vanilla Creme Brulee’.

Speaking of things re-scheduled, the school awards ceremony was pushed from later today to this morning. And this guy! Corbin won awards for Best Author and Best Storyteller! I am so proud I couldn’t love him anymore! Now I need to go get him a proper gift.  Maybe a Mont Blanc pen and a leather journal. LMAO This is the same 6-year old that  I gave a printer and computer to at Christmas.

We are all praying everyone stays safe during this weather outbreak.

Enjoy your Thursday Y’all!

Beautiful Passion Tea and Our Secret Obsession

Yummy

Good Morning! Wednesday brings with it more severe storm warnings beginning this afternoon and through tomorrow. But before all of the hoopla, let’s talk about this tea!

Passion by Tazo. Tart rose hips and citrusy lemongrass along with the lovely hibiscus flower and licorice root, orange peel and cinnamon. First. It’s pink! The longer it steeps the pinker it gets. I love this tart/sweet infusion. And it’s pink. Pair it with some mini macarons and tea becomes elevated to something lush!

We didn’t make it home until around 8 a.m. yesterday. It was a long and windy night.  After we tossed our gear in the truck we headed to our spot. You have to have a spot.

The best spot is by the airport at the entrance to I-40, running east and west. This is I-40 when it was closed down because it was under water. The video will give you an idea of our night!

Yep, we are obsessed with storms. I am normally terrified of heights, but the exhilaration outweighs the fear!

We were very lucky. There were so many tornadoes and water rescues. Praying tonight will be easy!

Enjoy your Wednesday and stay dry!

Jim Cantore is in Town! Here We Go!

Monday the 20th of May is not a good date for Oklahomans. One of our worst and deadliest tornadoes took place on this date. Many people died. On the Gulf Coast, we used to joke about Jim Cantore of The Weather Channel. We would ride out any hurricane unless Jim Cantore showed up. When he shows up things get real. He is in Moore right now. So we are a bit anxious.

Last night I started receiving texts. Schools all over the Metro are closed today and my doctor called and canceled my appointment for today. Businesses are closing early. Tommy is normally off today but not everyone has daycare today so he’s at Hyatt bringing up cases of flashlights and making sure everyone knows what to do. The poor out of town people are a bit panicked. We’ve already had one small hail storm.  So today is going to be interesting.

So my sister and I had our DNA testing done. One through MyHeritage.com and one through 23andMe. They said the exact same thing. We’ve always known who our people are. You can’t live in Charleston and not know your people. We knew two of our ancestors signed The Constitution but didn’t know one also signed the Declaration of Independence! I can’t say that any of them were saints. They were all well-known planters with strict slave rules. Not too proud of that one. Everyone else we knew about.

The breakdown was:  55.9% French, 32% UK (Scotland, Ireland, England) and 12.1% Scandinavian. The breakdown explains a lot. Like why when I get really mad I start speaking French with a very southern accent. I do speak it but rarely do. The Scandinavian part is Norway. Vestre. It looks like I have a good shot at moving to France if shit goes down in the U.S. In the UK we were in Leeds, Dundee, and County Cork. Walshes.

I’m going to make sure we have all of our storm supplies ready and then I’ll read a book.

Stay Safe Everyone in Tornado Alley today!

Tommy Saves The Day Again!

Sunday morning with no rain. It should be here tomorrow as we have been warned a million times that tomorrow is a severe threat day. But today, not so much. We had rain all day yesterday. It was a dark and gloomy day. But I was fine for a few reasons.

One, I love a gloomy day when I’m reading. Add some fresh from the oven bread and fig preserves alongside a cup of Earl Grey Tea. As you can see I finished painting my kitchen table and chairs and am 90% done with the breakfront. If I could everything in my house would be white. It’s a blank canvas so it can be whatever you want it to be with accessories.

Yesterday just as I was fed up with the painting, Tommy popped in to save me! With a quick shower and a change of clothes, I was ready. We headed up north to Quail Springs and checked in with Marshall’s, coming out with a few new outfits and the coffee I like. Then on to Ganache Patisserie. If you have never been, you really must!  I was on the lookout for Passionfruit Macarons. I have a tea today and the tea is Passion Flower Tea. Tommy picked out a dark chocolate tart and I picked a chocolate croissant.

Dinner was a spur of the moment decision. I am trying to be more spontaneous. We ended up at Cowboy Chicken. All they serve is rotisserie chicken in a lot of ways.

We sat at the bar so we could watch them cook. That is so not true! We sat there because I am always cold and this spot was so warm! It was interesting watching the guy stab these poor chickens with what looked like a Viking sword. 4 on a stick. I had the Monterey Salad, which was great. Tommy had the BBQ chicken with baked mac and cheese. It was delicious too.

On other exciting news, we got our DNA testing back. Since we already knew our history on both sides, as my uncle had written a few books on them and of course in the South you better know who your people are! I did have one surprise though and I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow!

Enjoy your Sunday and Game of Thrones!

In A Turquoise Mood!

Friday! I am so happy to see you! So much to do this weekend and I’m not overly excited about it. Time to rotate in the summer teas and clothes. I have no motivation for either.

This week has been about getting the plants in the garden, hauling river rocks for some drainage issues and painting. I have paint in my hair, but not a drop on the floor. I put down a drop cloth in my kitchen and painted my table and chairs white. Do you have any idea how long it takes to paint a freaking chair?? I have one coat left on one chair and then I can begin on the tea cupboard. Which will be much easier I hope.

We are taking care of Auntie Gayle’s cats Smoky and Lou this week while Auntie Ann and Auntie Gayle are in San Antonio for a cousin’s graduation from Boot Camp. Lackland. Back to the cats. Lou had a cyst or something and we have to put antibiotic cream on it which she hates. She is an old cat with a lot of tumors. Last night I dreamed that she had died and the other one ate her. Made Tommy go by there this morning just to make sure!

She was alive but in pain. Personally, I would do as the vet advised and not let her continue to suffer. But it’s not my cat.

The pool is almost ready to open for whichever children are brave enough to jump in.

We are supposed to have rain this weekend so I’ll be over here painting and drinking copious amounts of tea!

Enjoy your weekend!  On my book site, I have a giveaway going on!

WHOEVER TOOK THE RAIN, NO BACKSIES!

bfd1a11331f57d66101f4eaea64434bc

Hello Monday! You are looking awfully sunny today, let’s keep that up, shall we?

Today’s tea is brought to you by Taylor’s of Harrogate. Scottish Breakfast with Almond Milk. I love this tea. From the first slurp memories of my Gran surround me with love.

We are both off today and haven’t left the bed except for beverages. Today is a week of concussion protocol. The pain is down to a tender area on my skull but knowing me, I will overdo it somehow. Today I am just happy to have my hubby home with me.

Yesterday was a quiet day. I watched the Ted Bundy starring Zac Efron and that was predictable. I watched The Book Club and then I watched the movie Wine Country. Read two books. One a wicked and twisty thriller and Scott Pelley’s upcoming book Truth Worth Telling, which was well worth the read!

It is supposed to be a beautiful day so I think we are going to the lake and hope I don’t trip on something. Have a good Monday and if not, well there’s always tomorrow.

Much Love!
