Cecily’s Tea Leaves Told Her She’d Just Had Tea.

Tuesday morning has dawned sunny and hot! I’m starting off the day with this Earl Grey from Ahmad Teas. I used the cucumber tea from yesterday to make a pitcher iced. Tossed in a few mint leaves, a bit of english cucumber and a lime. It is so refreshing in this heat.

Monday is a day off for us so after finishing our individual projects we went to the movies in the middle of the afternoon. There were 6 people in there. We had agreed we wanted to see Deadpool 2 because, well, Ryan Reynolds. There was so much blood and body parts flying around that at one point I almost threw up in the popcorn bucket. Seriously I was gagging. The man in front of us went to sleep, woke up, went to the bathroom, came back and went to sleep. I want those skills!

I was disappointed in this one. Too much Ryan and not enough plot or time for the other characters I love. By the time we got home that roast beast in the crock pot smelled like heaven! This time I had used an organic French Onion Soup stock and tossed in some potatoes and carrots. Smelled amazing!

I have to go to the eye institute today. Who knows what’s going on? Dr. D is trying to get me off the heavy steroid drops twice a day and on to a lighter steroid 3 times a week. The least expensive ones are over $200 for a tiny bottle. So we shall see.

I got called out on the entire birthday party debacle. By my own child no less, who reminded me that I once had an entire western town built for one of his birthdays and for another one everyone dressed as a pirate and had to search the entire club for treasure. But I did point out at no time did he believe he was a horse or an actual pirate. There was that one time he brought like 6 little kids to the house and when I asked him what was going on he looked at me and motioned to his group and said, “These are my people. I’m their Leader now.” I will never forget that. For all of a week my 5-year-old was a cult leader. That year we all had to wear white to his party. The moral being I shouldn’t be talking shit about another mother. And he is right. But I’m still going to do it cause it’s batshit crazy!!

I hope everyone is having a productive and peaceful day and now I’m going to go tan until my eye appointment.

xxPatricia   Have tea. Be Nice. Make someone smile!

IT WILL ALL TURN OUT FINE IN THE END

It is afternoon tea time now. Today’s tea is from Ahmad, and is Lemon Ginger. The Cubbies are back at work winning so the voice is a little hoarse.

I had an email yesterday from UPS telling me they would be delivering a package today that needed a signature. I couldn’t remember ordering anything that needed a signature or UPS so I was wondering all night what it could be. Maybe the guys at Publisher’s Clearinghouse had finally sent me the check they had been promising! I get packages a lot but not usually requiring me to sign for them.

When the doorbell rang I opened it and asked who it was from. He checked. I checked. I signed. He left with a grin. Yep, it was a book. Anyone want to help proof read the new Math portion of the SAT?  I didn’t think so.

The month of March has played with every emotion I have. Up, down, sad, happy, scared, excited. and just when I thought I had everything pinned down…oops Plot Twist! In less than 2 weeks I will be moving. Not to where I had planned and that took some getting used to. But in the end my closest Corneal Surgeon would have been Atlanta. So it was Plan B.  And if I am going to have to stay in Oklahoma there are worse places to be than Nichol’s Hills. With a beautiful park in the back yard with walking trails and all of my favorite shops within walking distance. Yeah, Whole Foods, I see you there over by Barnes and Noble and Starbucks. Yep, it could be worse.

It’s a new adventure. And I already know I’m going to love it!

xx Patricia  Happy Easter to you all!

I MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING GOOD..

It’s the weekend! This mornings tea is brought to you by Ahmad Teas Lemon & Ginger. I woke up with a bit of a tender tummy this morning and this is just the tea to soothe that. I’m sipping tea, talking to y’all and watching the sun pour through the window and the birds that are building a nest in the cable box outside are obviously not in agreement on the design as they are getting a bit pissy with each other.

This has been an interesting week. Last Friday I had some wonderful news and a very unexpected gift that enabled me to retire from one job that required pants and shoes and to be able to pour all of my time and energy into my tea goals and to move in another direction writing reviews for certain publishers only.

Tommy reached the pinnacle of his goals and as his boss put it, “this is life changing for you”. And it is.  Every day of the week brought great things and I thought it just couldn’t get any better when out of the blue I heard from my sister. We haven’t spoken in years which was sad because we were the best partners in fun! We got to the root of the problem and along with my other sisters we’ve decided to write a book about it.

4 sisters, 3 cousins, all in therapy and taking anxiety meds. Common thread? Our mothers. This isn’t a bash your mother book. It is a story of survival and love and communication and trust. It’s the story of how we found our way back from tragedy and manipulation and became strong women. I don’t care if anyone reads it. But we need to get it out of our head and leave it on the page.

In my life I hold a tight rein on everything. Control. I never lose control. But a few weeks ago I gave up. I couldn’t do it anymore. Nothing was in my control. The minute I did that, good things couldn’t have rolled through the door fast enough! Some of us heard the words I am so proud of you for the first time ever from a parent! We’ve cried tears of joy with our friends and our work family.

And all I want to say is I am grateful. I will not mess this up. I will sing along with Julie Andrews…Nothing ever comes from nothing, nothing ever could. So somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must have done something good.

xx Patricia   Believe in yourself. Have Courage. Don’t be an idiot.

Hello Friday, Please Be Nice. Love,Tea.

It is Friday! And the sun is shining and it isn’t very cold out so I’m calling this a great day. It’s also our new day off. So while OU Boy languishes in bed, I’m up having my cup of tea. This morning I have some lovely Ahmad Lemon Ginger, as I woke up with a sore throat.

This has been a week of extreme opposites. Our good friend who was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer is not doing well, which breaks our hearts, especially OU Boy as he is a father to him, so there have been a lot of tears and sadness.

On the other extreme my aunt told me my cousin and his wife are moving here! And I am so excited about that. My aunt is only 3 months older than me so it’s weird to call her aunt, but I love to remind her!

My mom is home and doing well, my sister leaves tomorrow and I think Momma will be okay with her walker and my other sister checking in on her.

Today I have to finish a book, check in on a grandpa, and find a cupcake.

xx Patricia Be Nice!

When Does This Hibernation Thing Begin?

Grab a cup of something warm….like tea. Today we are enjoying a nice cup of Lemon Ginger from Ahmad. Still taking it easy on the digestive system.

Today we are all up and dressed in actual clothes! The kids have been great and loads of help. We have more paper snowmen hanging up than I want to count. The amount of paper scraps is overwhelming.  You know you are totally owned when the five-year old passes right by the trash bin to find you in the bathroom to give you his trash to toss.

I had high hopes for his eating habits after last night when he ate 11 homemade chicken nuggets but this morning breakfast was more of a negotiation. OU Boy face timed him and told him to eat one bite. Instead he broke out singing Light the candles, Hanukkah’s here. The entire song. And seriously what was I supposed to do? Sing along. Toss the oatmeal and give him his crackies. Or Ritz crackers as we non-addicts call them.

On Thursday we just didn’t feel up to cooking so it was off to McDonald’s for happy meals. The lady at the window was dressed as an elf, she told OU Boy she had put something extra in for the kids. When the kids opened them not only did they get a toy, there was a brand new $5 bill in each one! Hats off to you little Elf!

They immediately wanted to go shopping and when they got to the store, they decided they didn’t want to spend it.  Smart kids.

Have yourself a merry little weekend!

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THIS PIRATE

Good Monday Morning to you all! Today’s tea is brought to you by Ahmad Tea. Lemon Ginger to be exact because someone and I’m not mentioning names….made brownies at bedtime last night and how could I not eat one! So now I am suffering from Sugar Shock.

Sugar and I hate each other. It does horrible things to my body. I’m pretty sure the brownie making stunt ( which he said was fudge) was in retaliation for my forcing him to eat pasta with sautéed sausage and peppers. Or maybe because I send him pictures of what I’m eating during the day.

This is my day. Yesterday I had caviar and tiny toasts for breakfast because I was reading a Russian book. And because I only had 3 tiny toasts left and it seemed a reasonable breakfast.  At lunch, I roasted brussel sprouts, fresh green beans and celery with a bit of sea salt and herbes de provance.

I also opened the blinds to find a Stormtrooper peeking in my window. I guess if you must have a peeper, a stormtrooper isn’t a bad one to have. Now he is sitting in the tea cupboard after having a bath, since lord only knows where he actually came from.

OU Boy brought home flowers, which to be honest he does pretty much every Sunday. He’s thoughtful like that. Plus he thought we were having Spaghetti. Like “normal” people eat. ( His words).

The gorgeous tiny boxes of macarons were the Sweet Ending to Mollie and Taylors wedding reception. A wedding which was planned for 500. On the day OU played Ohio. Mollie and Taylor are not sports fans. Less than 275 people showed up. Everyone else was in Ohio or screaming Boomer Sooner in the yard.

Welcome to a day in my life.  I know we’ll all be writing about and thinking about 9/11. I’m not going to do that. I will offer a prayer. I will be thankful that my son and daughter came home intact from a war that this day started. I will remember my cousin who didn’t come home intact. And all of the other sons and daughters who lost their lives and continue to lose their lives.

Be Nice. Be Compassionate. Be Grateful.

You Suit Me To A Tea…Yes, Yes You Do!

Loving the turquoise and orange today! Trying out some different color schemes for a tea party next week. These are the colors I have to work with and I couldn’t be happier!

Turquoise and Peach remind me of the ocean and coral. They just make me smile!

The menu is set and I’m working on the invitations today. Obviously it is a Bridal Tea. My favorite kind. I also wanted to tell you about an amazing tea I had.

Peach Fresh Brew Iced Tea Image result for peach tea     This Peach Iced Tea with a peach sliced up in it is delicious!  I’ve been doing more cold brewing this month since the heat here is somewhere between WTF and OMG!  This one comes in larger bags too so it’s easy to whip up a pitcher.

The next one I tried with great success was cold brewing Ahmad Tea’s Lemon Ginger. It is a perfect drink in this heat and it’s good for you too! Do you switch up your hot tea to more cold teas in summer? What are some you have tried?

I usually cold brew mine in a quart mason jar. This one was so good!

Today is Corneal check up day. I’m a bit anxious, but it’s a reasonable amount of anxiety. So today is going to be a great day and any news I get will be positive and reassuring!

The Tea Fairy Finally Shows Up!

The first thing I saw was this little gem from Ahmad Tea of London. This is the Lemon & Ginger Tea. The ingredients listed are Ginger, Lemongrass, Apple and White Hibiscus with some Quince and Lemon Peel. On opening the packet, there was a subtle aroma of lemon and ginger. Now my nose is a bit stuffy this week, so it can not be relied on right now.

So I let it steep for the 4 minutes and it was this lovely pale color. The taste was a tiny little explosion of ginger and lemon on my tongue!  I really enjoyed it. This is one I will definitely be getting again.

Here is a shot of all the goodies the Tea Fairy brought with her. My favorite Harney & Sons Earl Grey and my Tazo Zen and Passion and Green Ginger.Along with some Italian Macaroons.

This is last night when I was researching a new gun and having tea and the next thing I knew all of those macaroons were gone! Now in my own defense they were each smaller than an oreo and there were only 6! They were so good I almost wept as I savored each and every one.

Yes, I’m aware Prysa that I was supposed to share at Book Club/Coven Meeting, but I am not a saint and I wanted them all. And I am very grateful for them and I want to say Thank you to that wicked little tea fairy!

Much Love and Tea   xxPatricia
