The Mysterious Case of the Amazon Box

Thank you all for your kind and supportive words. Yesterday was hard. Lots of tears were shed and then we watched a show that gave us a good cleansing cry. Sometimes you just need that.

But my day was also hilarious. Weird, but true. In the morning I received a text from my Momma asking if I had sent her a case of Ensure from Amazon. There was no card or anything to say who sent it. I waited a bit until my 3 sisters all sent messages asking if I had done it because they had not. I called Momma last night and asked if she had solved the mystery yet. No. She said, ” I know it was you because it’s Strawberry and you know I don’t like the other two flavors.” I didn’t say yes or no.

My Momma is a tiny little thing. We have trouble keeping weight on in our family and she weighs 83 pounds and is trying to gain a few pounds to keep her doctor off of her back.  Did I send the Ensure? I have no idea! Things show up at my house and I have no idea if I ordered them or if someone wants a review. Or maybe I night shop, like Tommy sleep eats.  I will, however, take credit and bank some good daughter points.

Today I shall lie on my new float in the pool and read Harlan Coben. I will be as happy as a bird with a french fry!

Saying Goodbye to Lu

This morning we received a call from Aunt Gayle that it was time. The kitties we always watch have been together for 15 years and Lu had cancer. This morning she was dying. Painfully.

My wonderful hubby and I dropped everything and ran around the corner. Tommy took her to Nichols Hills Veterinary and I kept Aunt Gayle busy at home. Tommy held her and they hooked her up to an i.v. and he was with her when she took her last breath. The staff was so kind and compassionate and for that I am grateful.

Neither Gayle or I could have done that. We’ve lost too much, too quickly. But Tommy did. He cried all the way there and we’ve all been a bit weepy especially since we are allergic to cats!

So, to my Daddy in Heaven….I’m sending you and Mr. Louis a new friend. Her name is Lu and I know y’all will take care of her.

Poor Smokey, her cat husband, was so subdued and sad all day. Tomorrow will be soon enough for us to remove all of her things and wash all the bedding, as Aunt Gayle flys to Washington tomorrow to watch one of the nieces’ graduate.

That’s all I’ve got today. It’s a sad day.
