The Anxiety Fairy makes an appearance!

 I

Good Wednesday Morning! It is already hot here so I’m drinking a cold brew from Harney & Sons. Blueberry Green. It smells so yummy! This morning I’m feeling fairly zen.

Our first weekend off was great. Saturday it rained all day and we watched Netflix and Prime shows with breaks for tea and naps!  Sunday we hung out in the pool. Then Monday came along. It was weird not to have him home. What did happen on Monday? I did a good deed. Said good deed came back to snack on my ass! My neighbor had a young lady (27) staying with her for reasons that turned out to be false. This young lady gives the rest of us a bad name. Crying wolf over abuse and rape when it was nothing of the kind.  She asked if she could call her attorney on my cell. Never have I done this but we all fell for her sob story. Around midnight I began receiving texts from a guy asking her to return his truck. I called said guy and boy did I get an earful!

The next day I had over $150 of charges to my debit card and spent hours on the phone with Chase Bank and the police. She didn’t steal my card, she used my phone and ordered herself an Uber from my mobile app. I was furious. Long story short, she is in jail and my money is back in my account. So….boundaries. I have them for a reason. I’m a sucker for a sob story. I should have run her background before letting her use my phone. My poor neighbor was horrified as well. See the girl had first asked if I had any books she could read. Well of course I do. I loaned her a book that doesn’t come out until October. Once I found out what she had done I marched over there loaded for bear. Retrieved my book and went home. And watched from my kitchen window while she was arrested. She did scream, ” I’m going to kill that bitch” and at that point, they added another charge.

Tommy just shook his head. “Why? Why can’t you stop getting involved with people you can’t save?” Because she asked for a book! So now I’m only allowed to go to the pool and the front porch. And my Russian neighbors’ house. That’s fine.

And now it’s Wednesday. Hot and humid. Around 100 today.  I just checked and all of my boundaries are in place and the Anxiety Fairy is happily puttering around up there waiting for the Shenanigans Fairy to show up!

AUGUST, The Sunday of Summer!

Hello August! You came way too soon. Unless you have children in school, then we love you! This has been a week of promised but not delivered rain. We do need rain. The sun has shown up with a vengeance. Over 100 is my type of weather!

This mornings tea is brought to you by Taylor’s of Harrogate. Lemon Ginger. So good and so good for you! For the first time in a long time, I don’t have any books releasing today. I am caught up with reading through November and the pool is now my home.

We have had some really big changes in our lives this summer. OU Boy received a big promotion at work with another one promised by the end of the year that involves traveling! He goes around singing some reggae song about my occupation is a vacation now. We are probably in the best shape we’ve ever been in physically and emotionally. Our #lifegoals are coming together like a good gumbo!

Our kids have been busy transforming the school bus and becoming a part of the #skoolie movement. They work lots of overtime and lots of sweat time to reach their own life goals. Corbin and Charli Ava are growing like weeds!  There is lots of wedding planning and shopping and prep going on. Everyone finally has their outfits.

Corbin’s shirt is adorable. He has his daddy’s scrunchy face look there and with his hair down you can see he did a little trimming of a piece of hair that kept getting in his mouth. By himself. The girls aren’t showing theirs. We want the boys to be surprised!

So planning weddings, meeting goals, smashing goals, drinking a lot of tea and thinking I may retire this year. This weekend will be the first official weekend off for OU Boy and we have great plans to go to bed, the fridge, the pool and back to bed! God, we are exciting! LMAO

Enjoy the day!

Birthday and Shopping Fun and the Convent

Good Monday Morning! It’s rather dreary looking this morning but the sun is trying to peek out. Miss Charli turned 9 on Saturday and we did our usual to spend the night and go shopping.

First up was her presents and then the mall where we bought a mixed box of macarons and then to Dillards so she could pick new shoes. Papa handled that. I handled the My Body Book. Which turned out to be more than poor OU Boy could handle. He looked at Book 2 and saw a demonstration of how to put on a pad and immediately shut that down by telling her she is moving to a convent.

She bought herself a new swimsuit and a lava lamp of all things. When we went out to the pool, we decided to do the scene from Stranger Things 3 where all the moms are posing at the pool waiting for Billy the lifeguard to walk by. Yes, we are nerds. Then I saw the picture and thought, there is no way I was this confident at 9! Nope. Then OU Boy saw the picture and once again threw the nuns in the mix. The picture of the two of them was just last summer and my goodness has she sprouted up!

She also installed a bunch of apps on my phone and tablet that I now have to get rid of as I don’t play Roblox or whatever that is!

We had fun and so did she!

Berry Mocha Truffle Tea and My Book Boyfriend!

First, the tea, from Octavia Tea Company this  Berry Mocha Truffle is excellent. It’s a loose-leaf tea and the aroma is calming and full of flavor. I love that this company has such lovely packaging and it’s all loose leaf teas and tisanes.

It was the perfect companion to the newest Stone Barrington book from
Stuart Woods. Stone is my book boyfriend. I also would like to be him. He is smart, rich, sophisticated, handsome and very sexy.

Been doing a lot of reading and catching up on some of my favorite summer authors. We have also been in a whirlwind of wedding planning! My baby is getting married. October 5th. So they have been busy. Working on the bus and planning an outdoor Fall wedding plus full-time jobs and 2 kids. I am in awe of them. This weekend Miss Charli Ava turns 9. We will do our annual dinner and shopping and a trip to the Savoy Tea Parlor.

Tomorrow I will show the progress on the bus, following the #Skoolie movement. You can look on Pinterest to see all the different conversions. Theirs is the 42-foot snub nose school bus. My neighbor lady said in her day they would call them hippies. I was not amused. These are college-educated Millenials who want to show their children the entire country and expose them to other cultures and ideas so they can make informed statements and not be ignorant. I am so proud of them! This is the same neighbor who yesterday told me that if I get any darker they’ll be asking for my green card. Asshat.

It’s going to be another 100-degree day so it’s off to the pool!

COLD BREW TWININGS! SUMMER TEA!

Saturday looks rather like I feel. Meh. Does everyone get the after holiday blues? Yesterday I was surprised to receive this little gem in the mail. It’s herbal so no caffeine or sugar or artificial sweetener. It comes in 5 flavors and each is a tiny silky sachet you just pop in a bottle of water. Within 3 minutes it was dark. And delicious! I was surprised because I had thought it would taste all artificial like those powders you put in your water bottle, but no, it is really good!

I was thinking last night that some of the things that went on were just too weird to believe. Unfortunately, they happened. Why go on vacation to sit and watch television and eat junk food? I wanted to eat local and jump waves and I was not in the mood for drunks or drug addicts. Obviously, this isn’t my family. We are Southern, we don’t air our dirty laundry or bad habits in public. One only came out at night to tweak his way through the refrigerator and ask if Tommy wanted to go dumpster diving behind CVS. One slept until 2 every day. I guess she just expected us to watch her 3 kids. By the third day, I had had enough Not getting to sleep until 3 a.m. and being rudely woken by people coming to our kitchen for coffee. It was at that point that I screamed, “One more sound and I will cut your balls off!”  It worked. I slept and no one was around when I woke up. They were a bit better after that. Not much.

My favorite thing was being with Tommy and his sister and her family, and of course, Aunt Gayle. We had the most fun running that beach in our golf carts. Some guy offered us free pizza but nothing to drink. Jennifer and I thought we could turn this “girls in bikinis on golf carts” thing into a buffet! I’m sure we saw either a baptism or a drowning one day. It was a church van, so maybe the first, but who knows really?

We saw so many turtles and one waved his flipper at me. Tommy said he did not and just like that, the little guy popped up and flipped me again! Totally tubular dude! Did you find Dory?

The big news is we came back with a new Nissan Rogue and 2 job offers. Look out Texas,  there could be trouble!

HOT FUN IN THE SUMMERTIME!

Wednesday! I’m still working on my mug of breakfast tea. It’s been a busy few days here. Storms almost every night, but nice days. The pool has been our place of residence.

Sunday we went to Incredible Pizza, which is Chuck E. Cheese on steroids. Roller coasters, bumper cars, go-carts, bowling, laser tag, mini-golf and lots more. We had spent the day cleaning out my closet and Charli put on a fashion show. When it was time to go to the pizza joint aka hell, she just wore my dress. We just took a zip tie and pinched the back straps together and she had a maxi dress. Corbin, on the other hand, wanted to wear his underwear. Instead, he wore shorts and a man bun. This wasn’t the hill I wanted to die on so whatever.

I went on a roller coaster for the first and last time. I screamed so loud the boys left mini-golf to check on us. We got spun and rolled and I kept seeing the same lady across from me and we just waved. Later I found out that was a mirror. Charli and I road raged a lady at go-carts. And my hips will never be the same after bumper cars. But bowling? I nailed that!

Monday Corbin came bounding in my room with his tablet and his underwear and stopped short. “What’s he doing in my spot?”. Tommy was off. And sick. All day. He has been eating my way. Clean and unprocessed, no bread or white food. He had pizza and ice cream and paid for it the next day. So we headed to the pool and ate strawberries and watermelon.

Recitals were held. Ballet and Hip Hop. Last ball game tonight and we are going to miss it. It’s also our cousins 18th birthday and she is here from Washington to go on vacation with us to Texas, so we are going to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner tonight.

Last evening Tommy and I went and had mani-pedis so our feet are pretty for vacay. Today he is going golfing and I have to work. I hope y’all had a fun weekend!

CHOCOLATE MINT ROOIBOS TEA AND A TALE

Friday Finally! Meet Octavia Tea’s Chocolate Mint. Caffeine-Free Rooibos. Chocolate and mint, yum. The Rooibos gives it a zip that I love and it’s similar to a Junior Mint. Very smooth. This one does contain milk/soy products so if you aren’t doing either, skip this one. It didn’t bother my tummy at all.

I love this clever book. It comes out in July and is a lot like mean girls club!

I have spent the entire morning going through closets trying to decide what to pack for vacation. I have two piles since I leave for another trip almost as soon as we return from Padre. Tommy called and I asked him how many outfits he was bringing. He said 3. Shorts, tee shirts and swimsuits. So far my list is:

6 swimsuits, 6 dresses, 6 pairs of shoes, workout clothes and shoes, 4 pairs of shorts and 4 tops, cover-ups for the beach, 2 purses, a blender, French Press, 25 types of tea and I still have to buy 2 pairs of sandals. Plus toiletries and potions. I’ll grocery shop when we get there. I’m just not sure what is in the house already so I’m thinking of bringing my own sheets too.  Tommy thinks we need to rent a van now. He’s funny.

Tonight we are having dinner with the kids as they have some news.  No one is dying and no one is pregnant, so I’m going to act very surprised when they tell me they are finally getting married! We let Corbin and Charli pick the restaurant which wasn’t the best idea as they chose S & B Burger Joint.

I hope your Friday is all that you want it to be!

The One Where We Go To The Ballpark and Come Home With a Black Eye!

Hello, you big yellow sun! How about we get together in a bit? I’m feeling in the pink today.

First, Momma solved the mystery. It was my brother who sent the Ensure. I so knew that. For Mother’s Day. I’m surprised he didn’t just send a coffin. He is the least sentimental person I know. Lawyers! But she was good with it. She likes the Strawberry ones.

Mr. Smokes is doing well. He was waiting at the door last night for his dinner and was purring happily. Then we had to drive to Wheeler Park for Charli Ava’s softball game, which they won!!!  Okay, so the other team didn’t have enough players to play or a coach. So we are still 3 and 0. Due to all of the rain, it’s been impossible to get everyone there but our team scrimmaged and part one was hilarious and part two was not.

Every time she gets on first she and the little boy are smiling and chatting. I told her to stop talking to him, but no.  So, he is playing first base and she hits a ground ball and he tags her out as she steps on base. I went into the dugout and she says, ” Why was I out?”

“Well, honey because he is not your friend. When you are on the field you have to ignore those boys because they are just trying to throw you off your game. During the game, they are the enemy.”  She wanted a challenge on the ruling. Her daddy told her to learn how to use her ‘girliness’ to her advantage. It’s a good thing she’s smart.

Corbin and I were sitting on the first bench of the bleachers when out of nowhere a ball brutally hit me in the face. In the eye. The eye with stitches in it. I had my sunglasses on and they were knocked off. It could have been worse. I have a black eye but hopefully no damage that I can tell. My son was upset because neither the kid or the parents apologized. This kid was throwing the ball in the bleachers! The parents just stood there looking at me. Being my child, Mike wasn’t letting it go and proceeded to make a speech about people not watching their children or teaching them accountability.

We have one more game to go to on Saturday and then I’m not going anywhere near balls!

Y’all have fun!

TEA AND CAKE AND A LONG WEEKEND

It’s Friday! Right? Yes, I checked. If you really want to wake up try Gingerbread with Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Tea. Whoa! I’m awake and the entire kitchen smells like Red Hots!

I am such a sucker for outdoor carts, stands, buses, whatever it is, if it’s in a truck or cart, I want it. These ladies have really stepped up their game with such gorgeous and creative places of business. They wouldn’t work really well here since the wind is constantly blowing. I swear I don’t need to exfoliate because the wind rips your skin right off!

Odd news of the week: The lady that does water yoga with me came over to me in the pool and whispered, ” Have you heard any rumors about me sleeping with someone?” Me: “Uh, no.”. ” Why would I have heard something like that?” ” Well it’s not true.” “Okay.”

Bizarre, right? I don’t know you well enough to know your private business and it was very awkward. I had questions. Who are you ‘sleeping’ with? A guy? A girl? See now you’ve made it my business. And then another one of her friends swam by and she said, “Oh, I’m not sleeping with her either”. I didn’t know what to say so I just said, “Me neither.”

This is Labor Day Weekend. So for most people Monday is a day off. I’m going to be playing with all of this stuff that Ulta sent me. I have no idea what half of it is for but there is a primer for every portion of your face.

Trouble is I can only do one eye. When I close the other one it’s shady at best. So we shall see how this goes. They even sent me a lovely bag to keep it all in. Compared to my own make up bag, which holds one mascara and 20 lip balms.

So what fun things do you have for the weekend? I’m hoping a certain someone goes into labor on Labor Day. That would be awesome Lacey  Y’all go show this Momma some love! She is almost at the finish line with baby #3.

YOU, ME, AND A CUP OF TEA…and Some Gingerbread!

The calendar may say summer is over, but the weather did not get that memo. High 90’s all week. I’m not complaining. I don’t turn on the a/c until it’s 100. So why in the world was I making Gingerbread yesterday?

Well I had this Bengal Spice Tea from Celestial Seasonings for afternoon tea yesterday and I thought, this blend would be really good in a gingerbread. I had the stone ground whole wheat and some molasses so I substituted a strong version of the tea for the liquid. No added sugar or bad stuff. I made just a small pan and they came out amazing! So much more flavorful.

On to weirder things. Does anyone else get totally creeped out by JC on Big Brother. We watched the Live after dark last night and he was touching Tyler while Tyler was asleep and then he kissed his armpit. Seriously this dude has been sketchy like this the entire show and I don’t know why CBS hasn’t take action by now. I’m not surprised but I am disappointed.

I finished Rising Out Of Hatred by Eli Saslow last night and it was highly disturbing. It is interviews the author had with the heir to the KKK throne, Derek Black, godson of David Duke, who has now turned his back on the groups and even changed his name legally and moved. It was interesting to see him transformed from what he had been brainwashed with his entire life and how he searched for his own truth and what he found that profoundly changed his beliefs.

And in other unrelated news, I found that tossing an orange into the blender with my mixed greens makes one of them less bitter. ( I’m talking about Dandelion greens, but don’t want to hurt their feelings). I made the most amazing Superfood Smoothie yesterday with organic baby spinach, kale, chard, dandelion greens and mizuna, which is also called spider mustard or Japanese mustard greens. A cup of coconut water, a handful of frozen no sugar added peaches, strawberries and pineapple and I felt very healthy for a few hours. At least until the gingerbread came out of the oven.

Off to water Yoga. That’s what I call my attempts to climb on my float everyday!

What’s up with your day??

xx Patricia
